Oyakodon is a rice bowl topped with simmered chicken and eggs.
Oyakodon literally “parent-and-child donburi”, is a Japanese Donburi or rice bowl dish, in which chicken .,egg, onion, and other ingredients are all simmered together in a sauce and then served on top of a large bowl of rice.
The name of the dish, parent and child donburi, is a poetic reflection of the fact that both chicken and egg are used in the dish.
In Japan oyakodon is often served in soba restaurant and other traditional Japanese restaurants.
INGREDIENTS:
- Steamed rice
- 3/4 lb chicken thighs or chicken breasts
- 1 onion
- 4 eggs Donburi Sauce ingredients
- 1 2/3 cups soup stock (dashi)
- 7 tbsp soy sauce
- 4 tbsp mirin
- 3 tbsp sugar
Put All ingredient in a sauce pan and heat.
